Doctor on Duty service now available

If you need a doctor after hours you can now call a new mobile GP service Doctor on Duty to arrange for a doctor to come to your home.

The Doctor on Duty will provide diagnosis and, where appropriate, treatment and medication during the out-of-hours periods when Carlyle Street Medical Centre is closed.

Doctor on Duty is the leading provider of in-home after hours medical care in the Byron Bay, Ballina and Lismore region.

For continuity of patient care, the Doctor on Duty will provide clinical consultation notes to your nominated doctor at Carlyle Street Medical Centre before the next business day. They will also ensure that a copy of the results of any pathology or radiology tests are provided to your doctor to make sure that they are fully informed.

Hours of Operation
The Doctor on Duty booking lines are open:
Monday to Friday – from 4pm
Saturday – from 10am
Sunday and Public Holidays – All day.

Bulk Billing
Calls booked before midnight are bulk-billed for all holders of a Medicare or Veterans Affairs card.

Book in for your flu shot at our Byron Bay clinic to provide your best defence against the flu this winter.

It is important to get your flu vaccine early in the year, before the height of the winter flu season to dramatically reduce the risk of yourself and your family becoming infected. The flu vaccine is recommended for everyone from six months of age.

Influenza (flu) is a highly contagious viral condition that is responsible for major outbreaks of respiratory illness in Australia and around the world. Unlike the common cold, influenza can cause severe illness and life-threatening complications such as pneumonia and bronchitis.

The flu vaccine is available for free for the following high risk groups:

  • People aged 65 years and over
  • Pregnant women
  • People with medical conditions such as severe asthma, lung or heart disease, low immunity or diabetes
  • Aboriginal and Torres Strait people aged six months to less than five years and 15 years and over

Dr Joanna Millar MBBS

Joanna has an interest in mental health and kids health.

She likes trail running, surfing, yoga and triathlons.

Farewell Dr John Norris!

We wish John a very happy and well deserved retirement.

John will now have plenty of time to pursue his great love of literature, movies, travel, Italian language studies and most importantly plenty of time to relax and enjoy time with his gorgeous wife Beth and family.

John will be greatly missed by the team here at Carlyle Street Medical and by his many loyal patients.
